Craig Harrison warns of tough Bangor test

Boss Craig Harrison says The New Saints will not be underestimating the task in tonight's Welsh Premier trip to Bangor City.

Although the Saints won 2-0 when the sides met at Park Hall just two weeks ago, Harrison saw enough to insist the defending champions will need to be at their best in the return.

They make the trip in good shape after opening up a five-point gap at the top following the two-goal success over Gap Connah's Quay in their last outing.

Victory sounded an ominous warning to their rivals, stretching TNS' unbeaten run to 11 games, 10 of which have been in the league.

They have kept clean sheets in seven of those outings – conceding just four goals.

But Harrison stressed there's plenty of work ahead and won't be treating tonight's hosts lightly, despite his side having won 5-0 and 9-1 in their last two visits.

"Bangor were certainly one of the better teams we have played this season," he admitted. "Although they lost striker Les Davies in the summer, they have brought in three or four good footballers with pace and they are a very improved team.

"They are capable of picking up some good results and we certainly won't be taking anything for granted as we're expecting another tough game.

"But we'll go there feeling confident after a good all-round team performance against Connah's Quay, in which we controlled the game from the first whistle to the last.

"We worked hard and, considering we had three games in seven days, the tempo and the desire to get the ball back, as well as keeping it, was very pleasing. We wore them down and created opportunities."

Striker Scott Quigley took his tally to five goals in two games after netting twice against Gap to further stake his claim for a regular place up front.

The winger is revelling in a more central role with fellow strikers Mike Wilde and Greg Draper on the bench.

"He's a big strong lad who is a goal threat," he said. "The second goal typifies how far Scott has come, he took it like a real mature centre forward."
