The Series consists of two sets of races over the year during the summer and winter months.

There are seven events in the winter series, with a minimum of four counting in the overall rankings.

The first winter competition was the Breiddens Hills Race and in perfect conditions there was a record turnout of 158 runners, partly due to it being a Welsh Fell Running Championship counter.

Mercia's Davies was first home in the men's event and Welsh international Beecher claiming victory in the women's category. Starting at Criggion, the course was 11km long with 890m ascent.

It's one of the less brutal races, but still testing, and sees runners ascending Middletown Hill, Moel y Golfa and Rodney's Pillar with varying terrain including a short, rocky technical descent in the middle.

Not only did Breiddens attract quality runners, there were also a few first timers with a variety of abilities, ages and even contenders in the over-70s category.

Funds were also raised for charity and this year £100 was donated to each of Pontesbury Hill, appeal, Grace Treks Nepal, Bowel Cancer and Cardiomyopathy Association.

The next event in the Series is the Wrekin Wrecker on Sunday November 15.
