The annual race, which started and finished at the Town Hall on High Street, proved a huge success as 239 competitors raced around the streets of the historic market town.

Lucy Davies, chairman of Bridgnorth Running Club which organises the event, said: "For the second year running we were treated to some great running conditions for the Bridgnorth 10k.

"A total of 239 runners took part this year, and with the families and friends filling the town there was a fantastic atmosphere.

"Huge congratulations to the winner, Martin Williams of Wolverhampton and Bilston AC, in an absolutely stunning time of 32 minutes 46 seconds.

"That's four-and-a-half minutes faster than the 2014 winning time and a new course record. That's going to take some beating.

"From everyone at Bridgnorth Running Club we would like to thank all of the runners and sponsors that made the race possible, and we hope to see you all again next year."

Williams was followed in second place by Neil O'Hanlon with a time of 35.59, while Matthew Costello of Wrekin Road Runners claimed third place after clocking 36.12.

Of the female runners, first was Bridgnorth runner Lauren Draper – who was also second lady home in the Wolverhampton half-marathon recently – with a time of 40.44, second was Vicky Williams at 42.00 and third was Gayle Gilbody at 44.11.
