Plough stunned as Sports blow them off course

Cressage Sports defied the elements to claim a stunning success against defending champions Plough Inn Wellington in the TJ Vickers Sunday Senior Cup.

While a number of games fell victim to the weather, Sports whipped up a goalscoring storm of their own to progress 5-4 as the Plough tasted defeat in the competition for the first time in five years.

The only game in the Premier Division saw Shifnal Royals defeat local rivals Shifnal North End 5-1 at home – a win that lifted them into third place in the league.

In Division One, leaders Coalport Oakengates picked up a 6-3 success against Malt Shovel on home soil.

Wrockwardine Wood 2013 FC overcame early contenders Bulls Head Dawley Bank Vets 1-0 to climb into second spot.

Celtic Spartans continued their recent impressive run with a 4-2 away win at Honeysuckle FC that moved them up to third in the standings.

There were just two games in Division Two, where Cosford United and White Horse Athletic shared the spoils following a 3-3 draw.

Hare and Hounds FC travelled to Telford Rangers and came back with the points after winning 2-1.
