The gusting conditions made life tough for both teams, but the Saints made the perfect start when Ryan Edwards forced home a sixth minute opener after his initial effort had been saved.

Carmarthen were level on 20 minutes through Liam Thomas, who also scored when the Old Gold were the last domestic side to prevail at Park Hall three years ago.

Stung by the goal, the hosts rallied as Phil Baker and Scott Quigley both missed the target with headed efforts, before Simon Spender restored the lead eight minutes before half time when steering his shot home from the edge of the box.

TNS started the second period on the front foot, and put themselves on course for a third final in four seasons when Quigley fired a quickfire brace to extend the lead with neat finishes on 53 and 55 minutes.

The striker - back from a three match ban - spurned a couple of chances to complete a hat-trick as the holders breezed through.

In the final, TNS will meet either gap Connah's Quay or giantkillers Denbigh Town who play tonight.
