Wheelers round off a successful season
North Shropshire Wheelers rounded off the season with their annual dinner and prize presentation attending the evening at Whitchurch's Dodington Lodge Hotel.
The guest speaker was Bob Williams, life president of the West Cheshire Cycling Association, who also presented the awards.
In the men's section, Richard Kay, in his first full season of racing, capped an impressive year by claiming the top award of senior best all rounder.
Qualifying times of 56.01 for 25 miles, 2.01.09 for 50 miles and 4.16.10 for 100 miles made him a clear winner and good enough to claim the veterans BAR championship as well.
Other club honours included the season-long midweek 10-mile championship, the Jack Duckers Seniors and Vets Trophies, the Norman White Trophy for fastest 100-mile time trial and the Hill Climb Trophy.
In the Shropshire Cycling Club competitions, Kay gained third place in the BAR and Vets BAR and second place in the Points Championship.
The Edward Jones Trophy for fastest 25-mile ride of the season with a time of 54.48 was claimed by Tim Rex with the Jim Hopwood Trophy for fastest time in a 50-mile time trial falling to Phil Guy with a time of 2.11.05
There's a new name on the ladies' best all rounder championship Bryan Collins Memorial Salver with Helene Belmans taking the honours with an aggregate speed over the three distances of over 21 miles per hour.
Caroline Lloyd claimed the 10-mile points series and the Jack Duckers Trophy. Together with Beth Langley, they also had the distinction of setting a new club record for the ladies 25-mile team time trial.
The junior section was dominated by Ben Preece, who completed a clean sweep by winning the junior best all-rounder championship and the evening 10-mile series.
