All Blacks hold on for vital victory in the title chase
Bridgnorth took another step nearer the title with a tight 27-22 win at Kenilworth.
Victory means they are five points clear of Stratford-upon-Avon and Bournville with two games in hand on the former and one on the latter.
The All Blacks looked good when leading 17-0, but the home side came roaring back.
Bridgnorth were hanging on at the death and ended up grateful to Yarper Rochelle who repeatedly won turnover ball to prevent another score.
Will Biddell put the first points on the scoreboard with a penalty from just inside the Kenilworth half.
And Biddell had a hand in the score as Bridgnorth struck straight from the kick-off. Will Crossley and Jimmy Gore showed good handling to create an overlap and Biddell provided the scoring pass to send Simon Fletcher through under the posts for a converted try.
Both sides were retaining the ball well without making much ground until the Kenilworth open-side flanker took out Matt Farrington late, earning a yellow card.
Bridgnorth took advantage and a catch and drive was followed by a few pick and drives before Jamie Ramsey barrelled his way over, Biddell stretching the lead to 17-0.
Kenilworth replied with a try, but then came a big score for Bridgnorth, who shunted the Kenilworth scrum over their own line with Darren Brick falling on the ball to leave the visitors 22-7 up at the break.
Kenilworth scored a good chip and catch try in the second half but Bridgnorth's fourth try appeared decisive, Elliot Brooks touching down from Farrington's cute grubber kick.
It sealed the bonus point but Bridgnorth still had to withstand a home bombardment.
A Kenilworth wing grabbed a loose ball to score a long-range try before a penalty brough the home side to within five points. But Bridgnorth held out.
Whitchurch just missed out, going down 17-15 at Silhillians.
