Wolverhampton Racecourse to host its richest ever raceday
Wolverhampton Racecourse is hosting its most valuable ever raceday tomorrow.
There will be seven races on at the Bet365 Good Friday event worth a total combined prize fund of £156,000.
Following the abandonment of racing at Musselburgh tomorrow, the British Racing Authority programmed an additional Flat fixture at Wolverhampton, alongside the £1.1 million All-Weather Championships Finals Day at Lingfield Park.
It will be Arena Racing Company's richest ever raceday with prize money of £1.256million available across both racecourses.
The event at Dunstall Park will top the recent Lady Wulfruna Stakes day, staged earlier this month, as the richest event, which was worth £151,000.
Max McCall, marketing manager at Wolverhampton Racecourse, said: "It will be a historic occasion for us.
"This is the first Good Friday that racing is taking place in Wolverhampton. The first two-year old race of the year is taking place as well, which is a bit of a coup in the racing industry.
"We are absolutely delighted that Bet365 have taken sponsorship of the day.
"We are expecting a great turnout. We are really looking forward to putting on this highly competitive race meeting for people who are looking to do something on Good Friday, and offer something new and different for Wolverhampton and the Black Country."
There are 132 entries across the seven-race card, with the first taking place at 1.55pm and the last at 5pm. The 2.25pm and 2.55pm races are worth £50,000 each, with £32,345 going to the winner, and second receiving £9,625. Third place will get £4,810, and fourth £2,405.
Hutton will have a shot at the big cash prize in the 2.25pm race. In the 3pm race is Merry Banter, who is the first offspring of the formerly 118-rated Group Two winner Bated Breath. Rah Rah – the only runner of the day for Godolphin – is in the 4pm race.
