With promotion and the Midlands One West title already secured, there was little on the line for the hosts.

But despite, not having played for two weeks, Dale Smallman's side ripped apart a side that finished the campaign fourth in the table.

Bridgnorth ran in six tries – three in each half – against a much-changed Hereford side who gave debuts to four of their colts team.

Oswestry ended their campaign in the Cheshire South when a changed team slipped to an unsavoury 7-5 loss at Eagles.

Already assured of runners-up spot and a place in the play-offs, the Os side travelled to Warrington to play Eagles whom they had defeated 53-12 at home.

But the hosts were literally up for the fight, having two players red-carded as they resorted to rugged tactics to unsettle their rivals.

Oswestry kept their cool despite the provocation, showing admirable self control in hostile conditions.

They included four colts in the side – Jack Charmley, Jon Wills, Thomas Henry Jones and Fintan Grogan – who all played with distinction and a quality that can only enhance the future of the club and a team so ably led by captain Andrew Smith.

The man of the match was Josh Tsang, with Oswestry now looking ahead to the play-offs as they bid to gain promotion to the South Lancs and Cheshire One.

Coach Gareth Barrett paid tribute to the team's efforts and hopes his side can achieve their goal of promotion.

"The discipline the team displayed in very provoking circumstances speaks volumes of their character as not just individuals but as a team," he said.

"I am extremely proud of them all. What was really pleasing was the display of our young colts, their mature attitude was simply first class. However, we still made some poor decisions in our game that allowed them certain plays and definitely a score that they really should not have had.

"Even so, there was 15 minutes of sheer determination to stop them scoring on our own line that was just brilliant."
