Wellington are gearing up for their most high-profile game of the summer.

Former favourite Chris Rogers returns to open the batting for Wellington Legends when they face Worcestershire Rapids in a T20 match at Orleton Park on Wednesday.

Match organiser Adam Byram said: "We are delighted with the line-up we have to face the first-class county and in particular the return of Chris, who is still a great favourite at the club.

"Many of us still keep in touch with Buck on a regular basis and he had no hesitation in saying 'Yes' when asked him to return."

Wellington will also be fielding former Orleton Park pros Kadeer Ali and Bilal Shafayat. "Both were

happy to play and Kadeer immediately offered to bring along former England one-day bowler Kabir Ali with him," added Byram.

Another former ace, West Indies star Phil Simmons, has reluctantly declined.

"

He is now manager of his national team and they have a tournament which clashes with our date," said Byram.

"He very much wanted to play."

Rising star Joe Clarke, Wellington's contracted player this season, will lead the home side against his present county.

The game produces some fascinating clashes – Worcestershire paceman Jack Shantry versus brother Adam and England star Moeen Ali, brother of Kadeer, against cousin Kabir Ali.

It starts at 5.30pm with admission £5 for adults and free entry for children under 16.

Weather permitting, there will be free parking on the club's second ground and there will also be a public bar and food outlets.
