Cleobury Mortimer Volleyball Club were well represented at the West Midlands Volleyball Association's AGM after a fine season.

The club, who play home fixtures at Lacon Childe school in Kidderminster, saw their ladies first team win the West Midlands Ladies Championship by four points from Tamworth.

Edwards said: "Tamworth lost their final two games and we won our final game. It's great for us, because it's social and all fun.

"We aren't the most competitive. We'd had a bad season last year, but really turned it around this season.

"It helped to have Becky Brookes, our setter, back out of retirement. She made a big difference."

The ladies second team finished a respectable sixth in West Midlands Division Two, a league dominated by local rivals and volleyball newcomers Hereford.

The men's first side gave everything but had to settle for third spot in an entertaining Division Two Men's league, finishing just six points behind winners Birmingham Mets.

The success continued down the board as young Cleobury stars followed in the older generation's footsteps.

The under-13 girls enjoyed cup success while the under-15 girls claimed runners-up medals.

The success will be celebrated at Cleobury Mortimer's AGM tonight at Cleobury Mortimer Sports and Social Club, which gets under way at 8pm.
