United's extra preliminary round replay was abandoned last week when the floodlights failed with eight minutes to go and the hosts trailing 1-0.

The referee was just about to restart the game following a lengthy delay after Shawbury's Liam Brant was treated on the field with what appeared to be a serious injury.

An FA statement read: "Following an FA Cup Sub-Committee hearing on Wednesday 17 August 2016, Shawbury United have been removed from the 2016-17 Emirates FA Cup competition.

"The club was found to be in breach of FA Cup Rule 11(c)(iii) in that they were at fault for the abandonment of their extra preliminary round replay against Coventry United on Wednesday 10 August 2017.

"Coventry have been awarded the tie and will play Lichfield City in the preliminary round on Saturday 20 August 2016."
