Bradley Reid sets lofty AFC Telford goal target
On-loan Wolves striker Bradley Reid insists scoring goals for AFC Telford United is a bonus – despite calls from his dad to net a hat-trick every match.
Reid scored his first goal for the Bucks during the recent 2-0 victory at Altrincham but, alongside his team-mates, was frustrated in defeat against Salford City on Saturday.
The Salford reversal was 21-year-old Reid's third successive Bucks start since arriving from Molineux last month.
And while he played down a goal target, Reid admitted that his dad has lofty expectations.
"I haven't really set a target, myself," he said. "I know my dad wants me to score a hat-trick in every game – that is a given!
"For me, the aim is just to keep playing games, play well and if I score goals along the way then that is a bonus."
Reid, who is in his second spell at the New Bucks Head, is enjoying the rough and tumble of non-league, but feels his background with Wrexham stands him in good stead.
Wolves agreed a deal with the Racecourse Ground outfit to sign Reid in February 2014.
He added: "Being in the under-21 leagues, everybody is the same age and there is not really anyone that is bigger than you or stronger than you.
"It is good to get down here and play against seasoned players and show the other side of the game.
"Coming from Wrexham though, and having been here before, it is not something that is new to me."
Reid suffered a horror leg break last August after impressing for his parent club during a goal-laden pre-season.
The Welsh under-19 international played 75 minutes against Salford and is happy to build on his fitness levels as he continues to make up for lost time.
"It's another 75 minutes for me – it is more minutes and more fitness I am getting," said Reid.
"With all the minutes, they are going to be adding up every week and my fitness will get better."
