S&H Juniors chase Four Counties success
Shropshire & Herefordshire's elite junior golfers were beginning their quest for Four Counties glory at Shifnal today.
The eight strong-squad began their campaign this morning with a testing encounter against Lancashire, who alongside Cheshire are favourites for the tournament.
A match against Nottinghamshire was due to follow this afternoon before the final round-robin encounter against Cheshire tomorrow morning.
Each clash features seven singles matchplay fixtures.
The tournament is one of the highlights of the junior calendar and S&H are chasing only their sixth success in the 45-year history of the competition. Charles Sievewright, chairman of S&H junior golf, said: "It is always a great week but it's a very tough test for our team because Lancashire and Cheshire in particular have a lot of scratch players.
"We will give it our best shot. The opening ceremony and practice went well yesterday and we are ready to go. Hopefully there will be some advantage to us being at home."
