Goodfield featured at Lee Valley as England opened their account with a 2-0 against China thanks to goals from Barry Middleton and Mark Gleghorne.

Goodfield, 23, is enjoying a fine 2017 and representing England at the event – which consists of eight sides – continues his rise on the national stage.

The tournament began yesterday and runs through to June 25. It serves as a qualifying event for the 2018 World Cup in India.

Goodfield, who progressed through the Telford’s junior ranks and now plays for London-side Surbiton, has shone this year and played a key role as England claimed the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup.

England now face a weekend double-header, tackling Malaysia tomorrow (4pm) and Argentina on Sunday (4pm). Their final group game is against Korea on Tuesday (8pm).
