Katie Roberts claims medal double at Euro event
Youngster Katie Roberts secured a terrific martial arts triumph at an international event in Germany.
Representing WKU Team England, the 12-year-old Welshpool High School student proved to be one of the stars of the show, claiming gold in the Technical Kata and the title of WKU European Champion, and also silver in the Freestyle Kata.
This success now gives the Trewern youngster automatic qualification into the WKU World Championships to be held in Ireland in August.
Katie, a second Dan brown belt is a member of Oswestry-based MD Warriors, part of the Kross Bros Martial Arts Community, and is vice captain of their team.
“This was Katie’s first international tournament, so to come home with two medals and the crown of European WKU Champion exceeded all our expectations,” said thrilled parents Mark and Donna.
“Everyone in the family is very proud of Katie, and her success is fully deserved for all the dedication and hard work she has shown over the last four years.”
