Telford duo Kelly Edwards and Gemma Howell will be joined in the GB squad by Powys’s Natalie Powell, who will be looking to improve on her quarter-final showing at last year’s Rio Olympics.

Powell (under-78kg) is the highest-ranked British judoka in the team, currently third in the world.

Howell has enjoyed a successful transition up a weight to under-70kg, winning bronze medals at the Antalya and Cancun Grand Prix, while Edwards (under-52kg) will be hoping to rediscover her form of 2016 that saw her win her first Grand Slam and Grand Prix medals.

Nigel Donohue, British Judo performance director, said: “This is one of our milestone events and we believe the team selected can challenge for medals”.
