Kinsella, 16, daughter of former Republic of Ireland footballer Mark, made it through qualifying with her Great Britain team-mate Amy Tinkler and will go for glory in the early hours of Saturday.

The gymnasts’ aim in qualification was to place in the top 24 of the all-around rankings (those gymnasts that compete on all four women’s apparatus) or the top eight on each individual apparatus in order to make the finals.

The Park Wrekin Gymnastics Club member opened her campaign with a beautiful elegant floor performance, she had a few small steps on landing her final two passes and scored 12.966. Her double twisting yurchenko vault laded slightly to the side for a score of 13.666.

On bars she was very controlled and accurate with her skills, she dismounted well with a huge smile and a score of 13.533 as she continued her impressive overall performance.

On beam, she unfortunately counted a fall after a difficult sequence of skills, she scored 11.200 to give her a total all-around score of 51.365.
