Former Shrewsbury boss John Askey up for award
Former Shrewsbury chief John Askey has been nominated for the League Two’s March manager of the month award.
Port Vale boss Askey was sacked by Town in November after a run of three defeats in eight games.
League Two outfit Vale moved to appoint Askey in February and, after losing his first four games, he has lost just one of the last seven, winning four.
His March record read three wins, two draws and a defeat from six games. Askey is up against Lincoln’s Danny Cowley, Tranmere’s ex-Town boss Micky Mellon and MK Dons’ Paul Tisdale. The winner is announced on Friday.
