Becky Brisbourne's ban is halved

Amateur Shropshire jockey Becky Brisbourne has had her 14-day suspension halved upon appeal

Published

Brisbourne was given the suspension for failing to ‘take all reasonable and permissible measures’ to obtain the best possible placing on fifth-placed Belabour at Doncaster last month. She appealed the decision and, while it was upheld in part, will now miss seven days of racing.

Stewards said Brisbourne made her effort too late on the six-year-old, who ran on from the back to be beaten a length and a quarter in the 1m4f handicap for amateurs. Brisbourne, assistant trainer to father Mark at the family’s yard in Great Ness, described Belabour as a ‘quirky’ horse who had to be ridden with patience.
