Saints completed a late turnaround to make it four league wins in a row with a dramatic 2-1 victory at Connah’s Quay Nomads on Wednesday night.

Jack Kenny gave Nomads a 54th-minute under the lights at the Essity Stadium, but Saints kept pushing forward and were eventually rewarded with two goals in quick succession in the final five minutes as they collected three more points to climb to second in the table.

Two of the players introduced as substitutes by head coach Craig Harrison made a goalscoring impact for the Park Hall club - Declan McManus found the bottom corner of the net for an 86th-minute equaliser, then Ben Clark broke into the box and produced a fine finish a minute later to secure a dramatic victory.

“Yes, that’s all that matters in the end, it’s the three points,” said TNS midfielder Clark. "We’re playing catch up at the moment, so with the games in hand we have, we’ve got to get three points to get back top of the table.”

Asked what the message was from Harrison when he was sent on from the bench, Clark said: “I think it was just to come on and change the game and get a goal, and obviously we got that, and got the second one in quick succession.”

Barry Town United, tomorrow’s hosts at Jenner Park, are currently fifth in the table with 22 points from 14 games. The South Wales club have won their last three league matches.
