AFC Bridgnorth are looking up the table
AFC Bridgnorth manager Jack Griffiths is hoping for big things from his new-look attack as they host Coventry Copsewood, writes Dan Hickey.
Leslie Omorodion did ‘everything but score’ in his league debut against Kirby Muxloe.
Griffiths was proud of how the new striker has already linked up with club top-scorer Ethan Jarrett up front.
He said: “They just interact with each other so well considering they haven't really played any games together.
“(Omorodion) holds the ball up really well. He brings it down, he holds it up and he does the right thing at the right time and we're really pleased that he's come in.
“The lads and obviously really like playing with him. Last two games: nine goals, two conceded. We take that any time of the season.”
Bridgnorth made the most of their home advantage against Kirby Muxloe side last week, as the inclined pitch and early setting sun caused havoc for both defences.
“I don't think they'd been to our place before and I don’t think they were expecting the hill on the pitch," added Griffiths. “They didn't like that pit at all – but most teams are not going to like that pitch but our lads are buzzing about it.
“It proves that we're getting that fitter playing on that pitch. Yeah, it will cause a few teams a few problems.”
Griffiths had the chance to manage against Copsewood at the end of last season, and despite relying heavily on the under-18s squad, came away with a draw.
He’s confident going into the match: “The team I’ve got now and the experience I've got, we're looking to get all three points come Saturday.”
“The next two weeks are vital for us to at least pick up some points. Start getting out of that relegation zone.”
After dispatching of bottom-of-the-league Uttoxeter Town 4-0, Whitchurch Alport will be looking to strengthen their position in the Midland League Premier Division’s play-off race in their home game against midtable Studley.
