AFC Telford United have shaken up their defensive ranks, losing Nathan Fox to Spalding United and poaching Jordan Cranston from Redditch United.

An undisclosed bid was accepted from The Tulips for left-back Fox, 31, on Wednesday, just four days after he was withdrawn early with an injury at Mickleover.

Spalding manager Jimmy Dean worked with the defender at Peterborough Sports and has been keen to strike a deal with The Bucks ever since he took over at the Lincolnshire outfit in August.

The Shropshire Star understands Telford were keen to keep Fox, who is based in Nottinghamshire, at the club but were unable to compete financially with their divisional rivals.

Manager Kevin Wilkin moved quickly to bring in a replacement, tempting Redditch United captain Jordan Cranston away from Tim Flowers’ side.

Cranston, 30, lives more locally to Shropshire and provides heaps of EFL and non-league experience to an already well-travelled Bucks squad.

He is in line to make his debut against Bishop’s Stortford on Saturday afternoon.

Boss Kevin Wilkin said: “Jordan was on non-contract terms at Redditch, so we put in a seven-day approach for him, and we’re delighted to get him onboard.

“I would’ve liked to take him in the summer to strengthen that side, and fortunately with how it’s turned out we’ve been able to tempt him away.

“I think the biggest thing with Jordan is that he’s got a wand of a left foot, and his set piece delivery is terrific.

“When he came out of Wolves I was the Wrexham manager at the time and I had him in there, and you could see he had ability.

“Hopefully there are a few years left in him yet, and he can come and show the quality that we know he’s got.”
