AFC Telford United boss Kevin Wilkin unhappy to lose Nathan Fox
AFC Telford United boss Kevin Wilkin admitted he is ‘not happy’ with the deal that saw Nathan Fox leave the club for divisional rivals Spalding United.
The 31-year-old defender was under contract at the club, meaning they were able to demand a fee from the Tulips, who have spent big under new manager Jimmy Dean.
However, despite bringing in an undisclosed figure, Wilkin is far from pleased with an outcome he revealed has been a long time coming.
“No, we’re not really happy (with the outcome),” Wilkin fumed. “Nobody at the club is happy about the situation to be honest with you, we wanted Nathan to stay.
“I said a lot last season about how different a side we are with him in, when he came back from injury we really started to have a more solid season.”
He added: "I’m gutted to have lost him to be honest, and so is everyone else. It’s really disappointing but we have to make the best of it.”
The Bucks boss also explained how the deal came about, and why it was important to close the book on the ongoing transfer saga.
“We’ve reluctantly accepted the fee, and it’s something that’s been bubbling under for a number of months now,” Wilkin revealed. “We’ve got some money, but it’s not so significant that it’ll make a real difference to what we are.
“It had become a bit of a headache and a distraction from what we were trying to do, so hopefully now we can move on from it.”
