Taylan Weston, 7, entered four categories and finished third in the Freestyle Weapons, Extreme Musical Form and Traditional Forms.

His triple medal success capped an excellent year for Weston who also emerged victorious at both the English Open and British Open earlier this year.

Weston, who trains at KMA Martial Arts in Madeley, first embarked on his journey in martial arts at the age of four.

The World Championships, which pitted him against older competitors, was just his fourth competition in total but his mother Jodie Weston believes he has taken to competitive martial arts very naturally.

"He started at KMA when he was four and it's just gone from there. The World Championships was his fourth competition so he's quite new to them," Jodie Weston said.

"Taylan only started competitions when he was six last year. He has got an English title and a British title which he got when he was six.

"He entered four categories and came away with three bronze medals at the World Championships. He loved every single minute of it.

"It was a really tiring weekend but he just loves competing. He's quite natural to it to be honest."
