Whitchurch Alport flying high after another home win
Whitchurch Alport recorded a third home league win on the spin with a 3-0 success over Studley to climb into third spot in the Midland Football League Premier Division.
Lewis Bloor delivered the breakthrough four minutes before the break with a curling free-kick into the top corner to extend his tally to six goals for the campaign.
Bloor turned provider moments later as Ollie Holden converted his cross with a clinical header to double Alport's advantage on the cusp of half-time.
Ellis Turner crashed an effort against the crossbar in the second half while Callum Knowles was expertly denied at the other end on the hour-mark.
Leading marksman Knowles did eventually get on the scoresheet for the eighth time this season as he kept his composure one-on-one to add a third 20 minutes from time.
That win saw Alport climb into third-place although they still trail high-flying leaders Lichfield City by 10 points.
Shifnal registered their third win in four league games with a 2-1 victory over Wolverhampton Casuals at the Brinsford Stadium to move into sixth-place.
It took just seven minutes for Shifnal to open the scoring when Benjamin Wheaver inadvertently diverted Kyle Bennett's corner into his own net.
Kyle Byrne hit the base of the post after cutting in from the right channel before Theo Knight linked effectively with Joshua Hesson to send an unerring finish into the far corner.
Wolverhampton Casuals halved the deficit just past the hour and Shifnal suffered a double blow in quick succession when Hesson was handed a sin bin for dissent.
But Shifnal almost added a third midway into the second half when Lewis Jarman became the second player to hit the woodwork.
In the Midland League Division One, AFC Bridgnorth registered back-to-back wins for the first time this season with a 3-1 home success over Coventry Copsewood.
Bridgnorth registered their first league win of the season with a 4-2 triumph over Kirby Muxloe at the end of last month after losing 13 of their opening 16 games (three draws).
That win lifts Bridgnorth into 20th-place and to within two points of safety with a game in hand on the three teams directly above them.
Allscott Heath suffered a heavy 4-0 home defeat to Camell Laird 1907 in the North West Counties League Division One South to leave them just one place outside the relegation zone.
James Eaton bagged a brace and Jack Kelly and Cameron McGregor also got on the score sheet for Camell Laird to condemn them to a fourth league defeat in a row - conceding 23 goals in the process.
Market Drayton Town emerged as 2-0 victors on the road at Barnton thanks to goals either side of half-time from Samuel Finney and Nicky Parker.
That win extended Market Drayton's unbeaten run to seven games in all competitions and increased their winning streak to an impressive four games.
In the Hellenic League Division One, Ludlow Town served up a goalless stalemate at home to Chipping Sodbury to sit seventh-place.
