Sean McAllister's side, who scored five in the first half and four in the second period, will now play Chesterfield in the next round of the competition.

Jack Loughran scored Town's first goals of the evening when he nodded home two inswinging corners in almost identical fashion.

Luca Whitney, who is on loan at Stafford Rangers, added Town's third when he was played in by Loughran.

The talented forward then created another when his long-distance shot was saved by Harry Negus, only for Leon Hughes to be on hand to squeeze it home from a narrow-angle.

Simba Nyamwanza, who became the club’s youngest-ever player last season in the EFL Trophy, then got the fifth when he lobbed the ball over Prior.

The visitors Coalville got some respite during the half-time interval, but Whitney added Town's sixth straight after the resumption. Shrewsbury School pupil Isaac England scored seventh before Whitney completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot to get their eighth of the night.

Will Gray, who is just 16, scored Town's ninth six minutes from time as Town wrapped up their scoring for the evening.
