The 52-year-old has been in charge of the Salop players ever since previous head coach Paul Hurst was relieved of his duties on Sunday following the FA Cup exit at Salford.
Parrish, who will lead Shrews at The Pirelli Stadium in the huge relegation six-pointer against Burton, revealed he has consulted people he is close to for advice, including his cousin Edwards.
He said: "I have rung people I am really close to. Rob Edwards is my cousin at Luton, and I rang him for advice and said, look, Rob, what would you do if you were in my position?
"He's had the highs and lows, so he knows. His dad and my mum are brother and sister and we worked together at Wolves, and we worked together at Telford."
