Stamford started the afternoon ahead of Telford in the Southern Central Premier and went ahead when Richard Gregory opened the scoring inside 20 minutes.

Telford hauled themselves level just before the half-hour mark through Jimmy Armson before Matty Stenson's second half brace secured back-to-back wins for the Bucks.

That win saw Telford leapfrog opponents Stamford and climb into third-place in the table and Wilkin was pleased with the response his players showed to falling behind.

He said: "Stamford started really well and probably deserved to take the lead in the opening period.

"They were the better side probably up until around we equalised. I thought we found our feet, and it took us a little while for us to get to that point.

"We understanding coming away from home at difficult places like this, against capable sides, is never going to be easy and just to drop into place how you want to do, but I really liked the attitude and the character that was shown after falling behind."

Telford have also moved to within just two points of league leaders Kettering Town who they welcome to Bucks Head tomorrow evening.

The one dampener on the victory was the injury which forced regular right-back Ellis Myles off after only 15 minutes. He was replaced by Jordan Piggott, who had also been suffering with illness in the week, but he produced an excellent display to play a key role in the win.

"I'm disappointed for Ellis. He's a very consistent player for us, and at a crucial stage, it rocks you back, but I spoke to Jordan last night, and he said if you need me, I'll be there for you," he continued.

"To go out and give us his all, he had a terrific game when he went on. He's a fantastic boy and you don't like to see any of the lads ill and suffering but he's shown fantastic character.

"Getting out there when he won't be at the height of his strength at the moment. I thought he was terrific. You need boys like that in the group and around the club.

"You can't have enough of those sort of people with that sort of attitude and we are delighted to have him and delighted for everybody that we got the result."
