Victory over Southampton was never assured but relatively straightforward on the day, as Wolves beat a relegation rival.
With some positives to take from a comfortable win, Gary O'Neil will also have areas to work on over the international break.
Defensive improvement
Before this fixture, Wolves had conceded 27 goals in 10 Premier League games, with nine of them coming from set pieces.
A clean sheet was almost as important as the result against the Saints and Wolves stood firm.
It is important to note that the visitors offered very little quality in the final third, but Wolves still had to endure some difficult moments in the first half before they could make a tactical switch at half-time.
The timing of both goals played a key part, but particularly in the second half Wolves defended with ease and were far more aggressive when Southampton advanced forward.
