Following the emphatic 16-0 victory over Coventry Sphinx in the Birmingham Challenge Cup, Wolves now turn their attention to the Women’s FA Cup as they host local rivals Sporting Khalsa.

The visitors sit 11th in the National League Northern Premier Division, where Wolves are second, and McNamara wants his side to continue their momentum and give the fans something to cheer about.

“They have just had another very good result against Derby County," he said of opponents Khalsa.

“We have got to make sure that we are prepared for them.

“Ultimately, it’s the bragging rights of Wolverhampton.

“Also, there is a lot of money on the table with these FA Cup draws, so we have to make sure we are at it.

“We want to make sure we are giving a really good account of themselves.

“Ultimately, we want to make sure that we get into that next round.

“There were some good minutes in the legs for the players against Coventry Sphinx.

“The girls will train hard this week. No matter what gets thrown at us, we will make sure we are prepared.

“We’ve got two home fixtures on the run now with the Derby County game being moved forward, so that gives us two games at home.

“The girls like playing at our stadium, we’ve been away for a few weeks now. It’ll be good to get back in.

“Hopefully we can put on a performance that the fans can be proud of.

“The fans help you through difficult moments. We know there hasn’t been a lot of them recently, but you can always hear them.

“The girls enjoy it, they always get behind the players.

“We’ve built up a little bit of a fanbase now, home and away, and that doesn’t go unnoticed.

“We always make sure we give them an applaud at the end of the game because we are really pleased with what they are bringing.

“Hopefully they can continue backing the girls through what will be a really difficult finish to the first half of the season and see us into the new year.”
