She brought home four wins on the day, including winning the final games 11-5 and 11-4 alongside doubles partner Jessica Danger.

More than 1,000 competitors took part at the Bolton Arena event, whereas last year just 680 players attended.

Nineteen-year-old Sabrina and her 15-year-old brother Jason also won bronze in the Mixed double 4.5 category.

The family’s pickleball success doesn’t stop there, as their mother, Fiona Edwards, finished runner-up in the Mixed 4.5, 35-plus category alongside Rob Salmon.

They train at Pickleball Central UK alongside Fennell and silver-medal-winning father and son duo Jeremy and Ben Philips, who competed in the 4.0 18-plus category.

Fennell also earned bronze in the junior singles event at The Rota Open, in Spain earlier this year, despite only picking the sport up 12 months ago.

Pickleball Central UK have sites in Telford, Shrewsbury, Market Drayton, Oswestry, Birmingham and Wolverhampton.
