Wins have been few and far between, but new boss Gareth Ainsworth delivered three points at the first time of asking in Shropshire.

Town's victory over Birmingham City will live long in the memory of Shrewsbury fans, but what were the talking points from the clash?

Positivity and belief

From his first interview as Shrewsbury gaffer, Ainsworth has added enthusiasm.

When you are in the position Town find themselves in, it is easy to have a negative perspective on things, especially when Birmingham City come to Town, who have beaten you twice already.

Yet Ainsworth said from the outset he believed his side could win.

And you could feel that inside the Meadow on Saturday lunchtime, as that energy translated into a performance from a group of players who had underperformed massively in recent weeks.
