Gareth Ainsworth admits Shrewsbury Town are looking at free agents
Head coach Gareth Ainsworth revealed it would be silly for Shrewsbury Town not to be looking at free agents to strengthen their squad.
The Town boss has had one game in charge of Salop since he took over from Paul Hurst and that ended with a 3-2 victory against high-flying Birmingham City.
The January transfer window opens soon and Ainsworth will then have a chance to make some changes to his Town squad.
But the Salop boss revealed they are already keeping tabs on players who might be available as free agents.
"It would be silly not to be looking at everyone who's available at the moment and everyone who may be available in January," he said. "But that doesn't mean I'm going to sign them. I've just won a game with a squad that everyone thought would get trounced in that game.
"There's no reason to look elsewhere except in my dressing room at the moment. See what reaction I get in the next few games now and there. It'd be great if we could pick some more points up.
"In football, you never know what's going to happen. So there's a chance, always. But at the moment, right now, I am focusing on what I've got in that dressing room."
Meanwhile, the Town boss confirmed Mogan Feeney, Josh Feeney and Josh Kayode are back out on the grass taking part in certain aspects of training.
Both central defenders missed Ainsworth's first game against Blues. Morgan Feeney has an ankle injury while Josh Feeney has had a hamstring problem which has consistently impacted his time in Shropshire.
Josh Kayode, who is on loan from Rotherham and has been out since August, has a calf problem.
He said: "We're looking pretty good. I think the boys who were in the treatment room, the three boys that were injured, are all back out on the pitches now.
"There are three of them. There's JJ (Kayode) and the two Feeney boys. They are outside.
"A couple will be in training (Josh and Morgan Feeney), which will be good. But JJ might not make full training just yet, he is just a little bit behind on team selection. I think the Feeney boys are very close."
