AFC Telford United boss on possible transfer movement this week

AFC Telford United have made young winger Rhys Hilton available for loan in a bid to give the 24-year-old more game time.

The former Halesowen and Stamford winger was the Bucks’ first new signing of the summer, but has managed just three starts so far this season.

Nine of Hilton’s appearances have come from the bench, including his match-winning cameo against Bromsgrove Sporting in September, and Telford boss Kevin Wilkin admitted he is more than happy for the winger to get game time elsewhere for now.

“We’ve circulated Rhys Hilton for loan, so there’s a chance he could be out before Saturday’s game if the right opportunity comes along for him,” Wilkin revealed. “Rhys is obviously eager to go out and play some games which I’m fine with, and then there is potentially another player that could be circulated.”

He added: “We’ll have to wait and see what interest we get in Rhys, but it obviously has to be a move he’s comfortable with and we’re comfortable with.

“We’ll see what interest comes. There have been one or two tentative enquiries about him, but nothing solid just yet.”

Ahead of the busy winter period the Bucks boss also confirmed the club are in discussions with two potential new signings but was unable to give a timescale on when they can be expected to join.

“There’s the potential of another loan coming in, and then the potential of another permanent signing coming in too,” Wilkin said. “As it stands that’s as much as I can say, but we’ll keep having the discussions and hopefully something can come from them.”

He continued: “They’re conversations that will be ongoing, and hopefully I’ll have a better idea of where we’re going to end up with those players by the end of the week.”
