Agnew, Steve Bruce's deputy, was sent off by referee Matthew Corlett in stoppage time of Wednesday night's League One clash at Croud Meadow, which the visitors won 2-1.

It has now been confirmed that the 59-year-old coach, a former Barnsley, Leicester and Sunderland midfielder, has been sanctioned by the Football Association.

The FA confirmed a charge of misconduct on Friday morning. Agnew has until next Tuesday, December 10 to respond.

An FA statement read: "It's alleged the Blackpool assistant manager acted in an improper manner during the 93rd minute of the fixture, which led to his dismissal."

The visitors condemned Town boss Gareth Ainsworth to his first defeat in charge as they rallied from a 1-0 half-time deficit.
