The 18-year-old helped her under-20 team-mates to glory in the European Cross Country Championships in Antalya, Turkey.

The Thomas Telford student, who runs for Telford Athletic Club, secured an impressive 11th-placed finish in the event.

Team-mates Innes Fitzgerald and Jess Bailey led the way, with Fitzgerald comfortably retaining her individual title, while Bailey took silver as GB powered to team glory.

Eleanor Strevens finished in sixth place, with Lizzie Wellsted 18th and Wolverhampton and Bilston's Isobelle Jones 36th.

GB NI topped the medal table with 12 medals as Phoebe Anderson (U23 women) and Will Barnicoat (U23 men) also bagged individual gold. The men's under-23s took team gold.

Gilbody's lastest success adds to a long list of honours in cross country and the track, which include English Schools, England National, British Inter Counties, Midland and Shropshire titles.

She also represented GB in the World Cross Country Championships in Australia last year.
