Kevin Wilkin: Telford paid the price for not being clinical
Kevin Wilkin says AFC Telford United paid the price for not taking their chances against Banbury on Saturday.
A disappointing 1-1 draw meant Telford lost ground at the top of the Southern League’s Premier Central division.
Manager Wilkin says they need to be more clinical in front of goal when the chances come their way.
He said: "We’ve had to work really hard for chances and opportunities. We’ve had a fantastic opportunity, one versus one, just before halftime and haven't taken it.
"I think it was the same in the second half before Banbury got their noses in front, and I think there was a third one-versus-one where we've pretty much hit the goalkeeper on each occasion and haven't worked him hard enough.
"We have to take those moments and try to move the game away from Banbury in those situations, but they were really, really stubborn. They stayed organised and strong together and made life difficult for us, and if you don't take your chances and opportunities, you don’t get the outcome you want.”
