Rugby round-up: Bridgnorth and Newport fall to defeats
Bridgnorth remain fifth in the Regional One Midlands after falling to a 31-24 defeat at Sihillians.
Ben Freeman, Fred Howard and Joe Berry scored tries for the hosts while a pair of conversions and four penalties from Kieran Joyce condemned Bridgnorth to defeat.
Newport (Salop) fell to a 36-22 defeat at Stockport to stay sixth in the Regional One North West.
Tries from Benjamin Elliot and Frederick Bailey alongside a conversion from Elliot sent Newport into the break trailing just 17-12.
Finley Barnes scored Newport's third try late on while Elliot added another penalty and conversion but he was unable to prevent them suffering a second loss in three games.
Newport Seconds made it back-to-back wins in the Counties One Midlands West (North) with a 41-17 success over local rivals Shrewsbury.
Tries from Luke Kendall, Oliver Bird and William Lever and a conversion from Freddie Richardson handed Newport a 17-7 advantage at the interval.
Billy Parry added another try four minutes after the restart before Lever bagged his second just three minutes later.
Will Boot and Connor Push scored tries with Elliot Dolphin adding a pair of conversions to put the seal on the win and help Newport leapfrog Shrewsbury into eighth.
Meanwhile, Telford Hornets stayed seventh after suffering a 24-14 defeat at Kidderminster with Craig McCreeth and Reece McCallister scoring their tries.
