The Shrewsbury Town boss was on good form at their Sundorne Castle training base on Thursday morning as he met the assembled media for his weekly press conference.

He was bombarded with several questions about Shrewsbury's plans for the forthcoming transfer window as Town seek to propel themselves up the League One table.

An option for the Salop head coach to strengthen his squad next month is to take advantage of the loan market.

They have six players temporarily playing in Shropshire from their parent clubs - to mixed levels of success - and re-arranging those could be instrumental for Salop's success for the remainder of the campaign.

Ainsworth likes the attitude of the current crop but admits it is not his preferred way of doing business.

"Financially, loans can be hard as well," he said. "But if you look at my career at Wycombe, I really didn't rely on loans too much. I prefer people who are permanent, I really do.
