Kevin Wilkin hails young debutants after AFC Telford United draw
AFC Telford United boss Kevin Wilkin was delighted to see two on-loan youngsters repay the faith shown in them, writes Rich Worton.
Midfielder Harry Hawkins, on loan from Derby County, and defender Joe Morris - who has joined the Bucks on a work experience loan from Shrewsbury Town - both made their debut in tough conditions at Stourbridge on Saturday.
And though Telford were pegged back in the dying minutes after appearing on course to win the game, Hawkins and Morris were two extremely bright points on a blustery afternoon at the War Memorial Ground.
Wilkin said: “Keeping everything in perspective, with the young lads we’ve got out there and how well they’ve competed out there today… we’ve obviously had to throw them in and give them a chance and an opportunity, and they’ve done well.
"Those young men have acquitted themselves fantastically, and they’ll learn a lot from the experience, the conditions, and everything else. I was delighted with the pair of them.
"Harry has been here a little bit longer than Joe. Both have shown good qualities and hopefully will continue to do so, to grow their game and benefit from being around the club.”
