The new head coach had just three days of training with his side before masterminding a composed, organised and clinical performance in the 3-0 win at a lacklustre Leicester.

Pereira now faces his first game at Molineux and with a revitalised fan base, under the floodlights against a United side in disarray, it offers a good opportunity for an upset.

He will have an immediate selection dilemma to contend with, however, as Rayan Ait-Nouri returns from his suspension and will expect to be restored to the starting XI.

But Rodrigo Gomes' performance at left-wing-back at the weekend makes it a complicated decision for Pereira. The summer signing scored his first goal for the club and impressed with an energetic display.

Regardless of who Pereira chooses on that flank, the head coach is pleased to have different options ahead of the Boxing Day fixture.

"He's a very good boy and he has quality," Pereira said when asked about Ait-Nouri.
