Godfrey was a popular figure among the Salop supporters after the role he played in the hugely successful 2017/18 season under Paul Hurst.

Town finished third that campaign, narrowly missing out on automatic promotion to the Championship, before losing to Rotherham in the play-off final at Wembley.

Godfrey, who was on loan from Norwich at the time, made 40 League One appearances and scored one goal.

After going back to his parent club Norwich, he later went on to join Everton for a fee of around £20 million - he made 93 appearances for the Toffees across all competitions.

This summer, Godfrey joined Atalanta, but he has made just five appearances for the Serie A side.

Reports have suggested the 26-year-old is close to sealing a move to Ipswich on loan until the end of the season.
