Town were on the receiving end of a challenging result on Saturday as their four-match unbeaten run came to an end at Leyton Orient after a 1-0 loss.

Salop had made progress in the League One table over the festive period. At one stage, they cut the gap to 20th place to just five points, but their defeat at the weekend, and results elsewhere mean it has now gone up to eight points.

But according to the Salop head coach, nothing is decided in January, and there are plenty of points still to play for.

"There's loads of games to be played yet," Ainsworth said. "I came here, and we were at the bottom of the league, below the line. We haven't been out above the line yet, and it's a long way to go. It really is, but there are a lot of games to play, a lot of games.

"There are way over 60 points to play for yet, and we're aiming to get out by the end of the season, not by the end of January, not by the end of February. It's got to be by the end of April to the start of May. We want to be above that line.

"We're above two. We just need to get two more below us, and that's my aim.

"The fans getting behind us as they did at Orient, the players giving me all their efforts, and maybe a little bit of luck as well, and that will come through."
