AFC Telford United have extended the loan of Derby County midfielder Harry Hawkins for the remainder of January.

Hawkins, who arrived at Bucks Head on an initial 28-day loan last month, will remain with the Shropshire outfit until February 2.

The 18-year-old made his debut in a 1-1 draw at Stourbridge just before Christmas and has gone on to feature four times for the club in the Southern Central.

Boss Kevin Wilkin said: "Harry has fitted into the group really well and he's done well for us over what is quite an intense period for any player, let alone a young man still getting to know him teammates.

"I'm looking forward to continuing to work with him."

Prior to his loan, Hawkins had made 89 appearances for the Rams at youth levels including 40 outings for the under-21s.

The teenager, who was voted Derby's academy player of the year in 2022, had featured nine times in the Premier League 2 for the under-21s this term, captaining the side twice.

Telford's title pursuit suffered a setback when they were condemned to a 4-0 defeat at fellow promotion rivals Stratford Town to leave them five points adrift of the summit.

Wilkin's charges will be aiming to respond to that latest defeat when they travel to Bedford United on Saturday.
