TNS clash rearranged as Cymru Premier juggle fixtures
The New Saints have no game this weekend as their scheduled trip to Cardiff Metropolitan University has been rearranged for next Tuesday night, writes Stuart Dunn.
Saints had been due to head to the capital of Wales to play their final match of the first phase of the JD Cymru Premier on Saturday afternoon.
But the game at Cyncoed Campus is one of four in the league to be rescheduled for next Tuesday, January 14 (7.45pm) in the interests of sporting integrity.
The switch follows Bala Town’s home game with Caernarfon Town on January 7 being postponed, with the fixture now rearranged to be played on Saturday.
Two of the league’s matchday 22 fixtures - Aberystwyth Town against Briton Ferry Llansawel, and Newtown’s home game with Penybont - will go ahead as originally scheduled.
But the four other matchday 22 fixtures, including The New Saints’ trip to Cardiff Met, will now be played next Tuesday to ensure that all clubs involved in the race for the Championship Conference kick off at the same time.
The end of the JD Cymru Premier phase one fixtures sees the league split, with the top six teams competing in the Championship Conference and the bottom six contesting the Play-Off Conference.
TNS are the current table-toppers, with the Park Hall side a point clear of second-placed Penybont.
Meanwhile, midfielder Josh Lock has become the second TNS player to complete a loan move to Caernarfon Town, currently seventh in the JD Cymru Premier.
Lock, who spent the first half of the season on loan to Newtown, joins TNS defender Blaine Hudson at Caernarfon after he made the move on loan to The Oval at the end of last week.
