Telford Tigers pay tribute to Steve Brodie
Telford Tigers paid tribute to photographer and fan Steve Brodie 'a true Tiger at heart' after he passed away.
Brodie has taken pictures of the Tigers for the Shropshire Star and the Telford Journal for over 15 years as well as being a lifelong fan of the Shropshire-based ice hockey team.
And an emotional tribute was paid to him before Tigers' match with Romford Raiders this weekend as a camera was left on the ice and the two teams held a minutes silence.
And Tigers said his memory will live on through his incredible images.
A statement said: "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Steve Brodie, Telford Tigers’ beloved photographer and lifelong fan.
"Steve’s unwavering dedication to the club and his passion for hockey made him an integral part of the Tigers family.
"For decades, Steve was behind the lens, capturing some of the most memorable moments in Telford Tigers’ history. From league titles to playoff and cup victories, his photographs documented the triumphs and successes of both Tigers teams, preserving memories that will forever be a part of the club’s legacy.
"Steve’s work went beyond just photography—it told the story of the Tigers’ journey, the camaraderie of the players, and the passion of the fans.
"His talent and devotion have left an indelible mark on our club and the wider hockey community.
"More than a photographer, Steve was a cherished friend and a true Tiger at heart. His memory will live on, not only through his incredible images but also in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
"Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Steve. Thank you for everything."
Deputy sports editor of the Shropshire Star, Derek Bish, sent his condolences to Brodie's family and praised his dedication to the Tigers over many years.
He said: "It was a pleasure to get to know Steve over the past several years.
"He was not only an excellent photographer, but a great guy as well.
"His dedication to the Tigers, and capturing their highs and lows through his lens, really helped to boost our coverage of the club through the pages of the Shropshire Star.
