Dave Edwards: Shrewsbury biding their time in an important transfer window

Seeing Shrewsbury's match postponed due to the weather was a big disappointment.

Huddersfield played on Tuesday night and had a really good win at Wycombe, but I felt with the travel time and two away games back-to-back for Huddersfield, it might have been a good time to play them.

Shrewsbury had a free week leading to it, so a bit of a shame it was cancelled. They'd be looking to bounce back from that first defeat in five, so that was a shame, especially with the Wrexham game around the corner.

But there has been lots happening and movement with players.

Charles Sagoe Jr has gone back to Arsenal. It was interesting to hear how Gavin Ainsworth spoke so highly about his attitude, but for the better of his development, it is probably the wrong place for him to be at the moment, playing a little bit sporadically in a relegation battle.

Josh Kayode has also gone back after an injury-hit spell at the Meadow. It's a shame we haven't got to see more of him because he's definitely got the experience and the athleticism to do well in this league.

It's good to see him back fit and available, but it's probably not too much of a surprise that he's headed back to Rotheram.

Jordan Rossiter has gone out as well and maybe that was a little bit more of a surprise.

I don't think Shrewsbury have huge numbers in the middle of the park, but Ainsworth obviously didn't think he was quite up to the level needed, despite his experience. Although he has also missed games through injury.
