Thousands of Celtic fans are expected to travel to Birmingham for tomorrow’s ‘Battle of Britain’ Champions League clash – many without tickets.

And residents have been warned of extra road closures due to the ‘elevated risk’, revealed a letter from the club to residents.

Villa fans have also warned they could be banned and reported to police if they sell their tickets to Celtic fans for the match.

The letter to residents near the ground warns of a 'solid road closure' along Witton Lane from 5pm on Wednesday and after the match.

During the game people will be able to exit via Yew Tree Lane and Manor Road.

The letter states that the measure are being put in place as part of Villa 'counter-terrorism strategy' - though police  stressed that there is no threat of terrorism, simply that a counter-terrorism strategy is in place at every game.

The letter states: "We are writing to inform you of important road closures for (the) upcoming fixture against Celtic.

"Due to the elevated risk associated with this fixture, the road closures will be enforced differently compared to previous matches."
