The Brazilian midfielder, who picked up his first yellow card in the first half for kicking the ball away, was given his marching orders in the second 45 for a rash challenge on Jurrien Timber as he attempted to win the ball back.

He will now miss the upcoming West Midlands derby against Villa but captain Semedo believes the 23-year-old will learn from his mistake.

"Joao is still young but he’s experienced and he’s won a lot of things," Semedo said.

"He’s in the national team, he’s a very good player, he’s helped us a lot and I’m pretty sure he knows what he’s done wrong and what he’s done well.

"I’m sure he will learn from it.

"He’s a very important player and we have to keep him confident so he can help when he’s available."

Wolves are in the midst of a tough run of fixtures that only get more difficult, with Liverpool to come after the Villa clash.
